Steve, you are fortunate to live in such a beautiful state. Don't know what part of the state you're in, but if you west or central, try the Cat Walk, a hike up a canyon so narrow that much of the "trail" is on raised steel bridges. (This one is probably better for cooler weather though because it's not high elevation).
I'm relatively new to the southwest (Tucson), so still enjoying exploring these landscapes. Planning a trip for next month to the San Juan Mts of southwestern Colorado for some hiking near Silverton.
I remember some awesome NM weekends in places like Cloudcroft and Carlsbad when I was a kid...beautiful country. Spent the weekend here in Cali seeking and devouring yummy foods :)
Might be right about the top being in. I'm diligently counting squiggles and calculating fibs to see what I can come up with ... :) -shabs
NM is so varied it's hard to decide where to go. The Cat Walk looks good, on the way to the Gila Cliff Dwellings. I think the next trip is to the Acoma Sky City.
Think we might need to see 1083 or 1088 before the hard reversal...(SPX)... hope you had a great weekend...
